May 2013: Getting rid of old plumbing, and some foundation work

In May, Dave, with help from his brother Ed, pulled out old excess plumbing and had a good-sized area to work in so they could install new piping.

The crazy contraption in some of these pictures is a concrete cutter.  Someone at the county Building Department insisted that our foundation depth in back was 4 inches and needed to be 8.  It was 8, but Dave couldn't convince the lady behind the desk (Dave:  "It's 8 inches."  Lady "No, it isn't."  Dave:  "But it is."  Lady:  "No, it isn't.").  Our gummint at work.

So Dave had to cut out the 8 inches of foundation, prep the hole... and pour in another 8 inches of concrete.
